Terms of Use

Last updated: October 2026

Please read these Terms of Use ("Terms") carefully before using the GradeView mobile application or website (collectively, the "Service") operated by GradeView LLC ("GradeView," "we," "us," or "our").

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Data Source Disclaimer

All grade distribution data displayed within GradeView is sourced exclusively from publicly available records provided by colleges and universities, including data obtained through public information requests under applicable state open records laws (such as the Texas Public Information Act).

GradeView does not create, modify, verify, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data displayed in the app. The information is presented as-is, directly as reported by the respective institutions. Errors, omissions, or outdated information may exist within the source data and will be reflected in the app.

2. No Liability for Data Accuracy

We expressly disclaim all liability arising from any inaccuracies, errors, or omissions in the grade distribution data displayed. GradeView shall not be held responsible for any decisions made — academic, professional, financial, or otherwise — based on information obtained through the Service.

If you believe data displayed is inaccurate, we encourage you to verify directly with the relevant institution.

3. Informational Use Only

The Service is intended solely for informational and educational purposes. Nothing in the Service constitutes academic advising, career counseling, or any form of professional advice.

4. User Reviews

GradeView lets you rate and review professors and courses. Writing and reading reviews is free.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content. Reviews are about teaching only: how a course was taught, graded and run. GradeView has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You may not post content that:

How reviews are checked. Every review is checked when it is submitted, by automated moderation and, when needed, by a person. We approve or remove reviews; we do not edit what you wrote. A review may wait for a check before it appears, and we may remove any review at any time if we believe it breaks these Terms. Ratings and reviews appear only after a professor has at least three approved reviews.

Reporting and blocking. Every review has Report and Block options. Reporting a review hides it for you right away and sends it to us. Blocking a writer hides all of that writer's reviews from you. You can also report a review, or send a complaint or legal notice about one, to notice@gradeview.app. Please include the university, professor and course, and what the problem is. We review reports within 24 hours. If a review breaks these Terms, we remove it, and we block the installation that posted it from posting again. A report on its own does not remove a review for everyone; a person decides.

Your responsibility. You are responsible for the reviews you post. Post only about a course you took, and only one review per professor and course. Reviews are the opinions of their writers, not of GradeView. We may limit how many reviews an installation can post, and we may block an installation from posting reviews if it breaks these Terms.

Permission to show your review. You keep ownership of what you write. By posting a review, you give GradeView LLC a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to host, store, display, reproduce and distribute it, together with its rating and course details, in GradeView's apps, website and services, including services through which other apps show GradeView information. This license ends for future display when you delete your review, except where we keep a copy as described in our Privacy Policy.

Deleting your review. You can delete a review you wrote from the app on the device you wrote it on. If you no longer have that device, email notice@gradeview.app.

Your name is not shown, but reviews can be traced. GradeView doesn't show your name with your review. Your reviews are linked to your app installation, and we may use that link to enforce these Terms or when the law requires it. See our Privacy Policy.

5. Intellectual Property

The GradeView app, its design, branding, and original content are the property of GradeView LLC and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. The underlying grade data belongs to the respective universities and is used in accordance with public records law.

6. No Warranty

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GradeView LLC and its owners, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of — or inability to use — the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

8. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated date. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
